Android 12L is coming to tablets and foldables ‘later this year’

When it announced the Android 12L beta in October, Google promised the software for bigger screens would be prepared early this year. The business did not get more specific about timing than that.
That might suggest devices like the Galaxy Z Fold, Z Flip and Surface Duo would be getting the brand-new interface, which is supposed to bring features like house and lock screens optimized for larger display screens. There will also be a two-column notice shade, a new taskbar for much easier multitasking and other tweaks that make better use of the greater space on tablets and foldables..
As senior writer Sam Rutherford pointed out when he evaluated the Android 12L beta, though some of these additions are compelling, some, like the taskbar, have restrictions. It can just consist of five apps at the same time, for example, in spite of having plenty of room on either side for more icons. Based on a screenshot Google shared with todays news, though, there are 6 icons on the taskbar, so that might be something the business has changed prior to 12Ls public release..
Google.
Android has long dealt with criticism for being an unintuitive system for tablets, leading to a lack in genuine competition for Apples iPads. We cant state for particular yet whether 12L will make Android tablets substantively much better, at least Google is attempting to make it much better so non-Apple users may have alternatives to think about in future. All items advised by Engadget are chosen by our editorial team, independent of our parent business.
