Meta, the moms and dad company of Facebook, is apparently facing new whistleblower problems accusing it of misleading financiers about its efforts to combat climate modification and COVID-19 false information. The 2 new problems were submitted with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission this month by Whistleblower Aid, a nonprofit group representing former Facebook item supervisor turned whistleblower Frances Haugen, according to a report Friday from The Washington Post. The grievances allege Facebook made “material misrepresentations” and left out information in statements to investors about its efforts to stem false information on its platforms, reported the Post, citing redacted copies of the documents..

Whistleblower Aid didnt instantly respond to a demand for comment. One of the brand-new complaints alleges that environment change false information was “plainly available” on Facebook despite remarks from executives about being devoted to fighting the “global crisis,” according to the Post. For years, Facebook has dealt with criticism that it does not do enough to combat hate speech and stop the spread of false information.
