At least 40,000 customers under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program might see immediate student loan debt forgiveness due to student loan repayment modifications revealed Tuesday by the United States Department of Education. These updates include modifications to how student loan forbearance counts towards debt forgiveness and more oversight into how loan servicers use forbearance. “Student loans were never implied to be a life sentence, however its certainly felt that method for borrowers locked out of financial obligation relief theyre qualified for,” US Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in a declaration.
