‘Westworld’ Season 4, Episode 3 Recap: Unleash the Flies – CNET

Caleb has been fly-ifiedI cant think we need to talk about this scene again. Well, here goes. While Caleb speak with his daughter in the cell, Maeve battles host William. It rapidly becomes clear that something isnt ideal with Frankie. In a cut-away scene, we see that Calebs child and partner avoided a Chalores thug posturing as their safe house chauffeur. The little girl with Caleb? 100% a robotic. Robot Frankie tells Caleb that Chalores wants him. Then her face disintegrate, and flies put out of the gaps. We see one of them crawl into Calebs ear, and the episode ends with him screaming painfully. What takes place now? Sunday cant come quickly enough. Roaming thoughtsIn this weeks “after the episode” breakdown (these play after the credits roll), a Westworld art director discusses that flies eat a parasite, end up being infected and transmit the illness to human beings. Nice.It took a lot for me not to throw the pun “fly-jinks” into this story. OK, am I imagining things, or is Maleb … flirting? In that elevator scene, when Caleb fixes her shoulder after she takes a bullet, I sensed something there. She even grabs his hand, men. A pointer: Caleb has an entire wife.Kind of enjoyable reality: Manny Montana, the star who plays Carver in this episode (the person who is expected to take Calebs other half and child to a safe home however is eliminated and changed by a clone) is going to be a main character in the upcoming Disney Plus Marvel series Ironheart..

Whats up with me, you ask? Oh, not much. Simply attempting to forget the Westworld scene where a childs robot face splits apart and a bunch of infected flies spill out. Not much at all. Launched Sunday, the 3rd episode of season 4 is an odd one. Bernard returns from the Valley Beyond (aka The Sublime) with strange prophetic capabilities. We get an up-close look at Chalores fly factory, and then, as I explained above, a host positioning as Calebs child lets loose a rage of the bugs on him.Im presuming you, like me, are considering whatever that may take place next. As we await an upgrade on Calebs fate, lets have a look back at the rest of episode 3. There will be eight episodes amount to in this season of HBOs mind-twisting sci-fi series, and Im itching to see how all of these various stories converge (presuming they even do). Get your dependable flyswatter, and lets enter it. Bernard is backFinally, we see a main character who hasnt been around since the season 3 finale– Bernard! At the start of episode 3, hes in the Valley Beyond, a digital plane of existence we saw a bunch of Westworld hosts enter in season 2, leaving their physical bodies behind. When Bernard go back to his world from what looks like a short encounter with Westworld host Akecheta in the Sublime, his loyal pal Ashley Stubbs is there, and tells him years have actually passed. It appears Stubbs has actually been by his side all that time, waiting on their next relocation. (Bernard did alter Stubbs core directive to assist him back in season 3, however it would be wrong to call this bromance a forced relationship). Its eventually exposed that Bernard brought something back from his journey into The Sublime (nope– not a snowglobe). While there, Bernard might see “the worlds that may have been, and all the worlds that might come,” meaning that now, he can kinda forecast the future. Hes on a mission to save the world. The objective is to ensure they remain on the right track, he informs Stubbs. The majority of worlds end in disaster, however if he can “set off a specific series of events,” then they may make it through. A note: While in the Sublime earlier, Bernard confesses that no courses end with him still living. Stubbs, played by Luke Hemsworth.

He asks that she take them to “the condemned lands” and she reluctantly obliges.Later, after driving through the desert, Bernard, Stubbs and the female from the organization pull to a stop. More individuals emerge, and a leader-type character questions Bernard. Bernard explains that the man (read: the head) was looking for the organization, and they are in danger.

Uh oh.Following a noise just she can hear, Maeve accesses a sort of control space, where she and Caleb can see people on several screens setting up blocks in sync. Maeve says the noise is coming from a cone-shaped device in the center of the room, and Caleb notes that the sound appears to be managing them somehow. In a heart-pounding scene, Caleb runs to discover his daughter and frantically tries to pry the door to her cell open.
