I was hoping to slice into a satisfying escape when I turned on this truth show. In reality, I discovered myself more bothered by overwhelming options and burning concerns. Im all for advising reality shows, but eventually, this is one could-be-confection you do not want to bite into.

Lastly, the most head-scratching part of Is It Cake? shows up to top off the show. For crucial context, previously in the episode, an entrant (Jonny) explains a plan to plant synthetic tomatoes on one of the genuine tacos to toss off the judges. Flash forward to the cake-guessing video game for all the marbles. The judges dont pick Jonnys taco– in reality, they select a real taco that looks like it has fake tomatoes on it. I cant verify for sure that taco was the target of Jonnys deceptiveness, because the show doesnt bring it up. Nope, not at all.To be clear, there are no rules versus what Jonny did as far as I can tell. However in a competitors that already doesnt make much sense, its another discouraging blow. It could have been worked into a teaching minute or chuckled off by the judges. Instead, absolutely nothing happens, and were left wondering if we missed out on something.

I always enjoy this part of baking shows– its nice to find out a bit about who the entrants are and, of course, how they pull off “cake magic.
